Ichijou Kobayashi was born in Hyogo Prefecture in the town of Yashiro, Japan but now resides in Suita City, Osaka. He graduated from Kansai Gakuin University majoring in Physics. He began playing shakuhachi in the Traditional Japanese Music club of his University taking lessons from Tanaka Yudo who was a student of Araki Kodo III of the Kinko Ryu. During his sophomore year of University, he began the study of shakuhachi making under Nagahiro Shinzan, who was a student of Tamai Chikusen in order to afford to pay for his own shakuhachi repairs. He eventually began studying with Aoki Reibo in Tokyo and continues to study to this day.http://www.ichijou-shakuhachi.com/en

Mujitsuone, air/cloudsKen LaCossepresentjinashiU.S.A.
Translated, Mujitsu alludes to the contrast/connection between emptiness (mu) and form (jitsu). The term is especially relative to these particular flutes because of the nature of their construction. The emptiness (bore) and the form (bamboo) are equal, interdependent partners.
